A few months ago, John Hennessey of Hennessey Tuners, took his personal HPE700 Ford Mustang for a wild ride and it wasn’t amusing that a man of his calibre could get this beast to well over 195 mph. For ordinary guys that’s really awesome, but for him it isn’t just enough. After getting out of his car, the first thing he said, I will do 200mph in this car.
The Ford Mustang HPE700 is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine that churns out 717 horsepower and 632 pound-feet of torque, this made it possible to hit 195 mph but to go beyond 200 needed some more juice. So what Hennessey did, he used HPE750 this time, producing 774 horsepower and 648 pound-feet, intensifying the same powertrain to an insane level.
To the utter surprise of the audience, Hennessey team brought along the legendary Jay Leno to witness a new top speed record in their HPE750. This spectacular event took place at Continental Tire Proving Grounds in Uvalde, TX, where this modified Mustang reached a top speed of 207.9 miles per hour, verified by the GPS.
Well, the base 2015 Mustang GT HPE750 starts at £38,921 but if you want to get your hands on one of these Hennessey built Mustang, then you’ll have to spend £45,380. But this price means nothing when you get yourself a car that is capable of covering a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds and reaching 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Pretty wicked, isn’t it?
