Aygo offers fun to drive with efficient and economical engines

Toyota Aygo is a cheap and handy small car in its class

It is in the market to compete Citroen C 1, Nissan Pixo, KIA Picanto, Hyundai i 10 and Peugeot 107. Toyota Aygo is available in three and five-door models with low running cost and in cheaper price than its rivals available in the market. It is fun to drive with good and nice handling.

It is the best choice for congested city traffic and for Small Street’s driving.

Toyota Aygo is satisfied with two petrol engines and one diesel engine

Toyota Aygo is a small hatchback class of vehicle. There is a very limited engine range that suits this car. Toyota Aygo is available in manual gearbox and semiautomatic gearbox systems.

Diesel engine

Toyota Aygo is available in 1.4-Litre diesel engine. It is a four-cylinder and eight-valve engine that is capable of just 54bhp and 96lb/ft torque. As we discussed above it is a small vehicle so this small unit suits it.

It takes 16.3 seconds to reach from 0-62m/h with top speed of 96m/h. The fuel consumption is very low and fuel average of this engine is 68m/g with 109g/km of Co2 emissions. It is fitted with five-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive unit. This engine is available in three and five-door models.

Petrol engine

There is a 1.0-Litre VVT-I petrol engine that is capable of 68bhp and 69lb/ft torque. Its performance is marginal better than the diesel one.  It takes 13.7 seconds to get from 0-62m/h with top speed of 98m/h. It is a three-cylinder and twelve-valve petrol unit so its fuel average is reasonably good. It gives 65m/g of fuel average along with just 99g/km of Co2 emissions.

It is available in three and five-door models along with five-speed manual gearbox and five-speed MMT automatic gearbox assembly. Second version in this petrol unit is of 67bhp and 69lb/ft torque. It takes 14.4 seconds to reach from 0-62m/h with top speed of 98m/h. It is available in five-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive assembly as standard. Its fuel average is 61m/g along with 107g/km of Co2 emissions.

Safety and reliability

Aygo is a small car with limited equipments as we have in Citroen C 1. Safety measures are also selective and choosy ones. Toyota Aygo has three out of five star ratings of Euro NCAP.

These small cars have very short space to use so experts have noticed that in front impact driver’s chest might be hit by the steering wheel. Though there are airbags available for the driver and front passenger, but due to short space there is not enough time to activate the airbags properly in any front impact.

Practicality and boot space

Despite its design looks small and short but it offers good and reasonable passenger space at front and rear as well. In three and five-door models the high roof gives healthy head room for all passengers.

Leg room at rear are not good enough but affordable according to the size of the car. Boot space is just 138-Litres but thanks to 50/50 rear bench folding system that gives some extra space to use.
