One in Five New Cars Registered in EU are from UK

In first three months of 2015, number of new car registrations climbed to 872,000 which is the highest number in Q1 since 2004

UK is enjoying the biggest chunk of market share in the auto industry. A recent study showed that in the first three months of this year, 872,000 new cars were running on the British roads and one of five new cars in EU is registered in the UK. This boom has created a number of jobs and has given the auto manufacturers a chance to prove their worth. Take Nissan for instance, producing more cars in the north-east UK alone than Italy.

Why are they going crazy?

It isn’t that the Brits or the Europeans are going crazy, it’s just that the feeling of confidence regarding their income and job. The economy is getting stronger so the car sales have increased. The rise in new cars registration is up by 9 percent as compared to the first quarter of 2014.

So much so, this huge number has made UK head of the pre-crash levels; the biggest rise within the fellow countries with 9 percent alone in the UK compared to 6 percent for the rest of the Europe. After Germany, UK was the second largest car market for new cars in Europe in 2014.

What kind of vehicles are they going for?

Well, most of the vehicles are plug-in cars or vans. All of these vehicles, a total of 9,046, registered in the first three months were capable of ultra-low emissions. A gigantic rise of 366 per cent was seen in the first quarter.

What the government has to say about it?

Prime Minister David Cameron stated last week that the manufacturing industry in this country is flourishing and the great example is Nissan, which alone in the north-east, is producing more vehicles than the whole of the car industry in Italy.

Other Ministers are really happy with the growth of auto industry, specifically, on the fact that majority of these cars are built in the Britain, like out of 872,000 units, 530,000 were made in the UK this year.
